Can I really earn an accredited college degree this way?

This is one of the most common questions we receive. The short answer is, "Yes, you CAN earn your degree this way from a number of regionally accredited schools."

Chapters 5 and 8 focus on the shortcuts using this option in combination with equivalency exams. It isn't as simple as presenting a resume and being awarded credits. Instead you look at the course requirements for the degree you want and see which of those courses cover material you already know through life or work experience. You then put together a "portfolio" -- typically a 3 to 10 page narrative, that demonstrates how you learned the material in real life.

There is one state college that offers up to four years of credit this way. They have 120 different majors to choose from including a B.S. in Business Administration with 25 concentrations available. There are many more to choose from.

Alternatively you may take an equivalency exam to demonstrate your knowledge. Equivalency exams are incredibly cheap. You can earn a year of credit this way for under $450!
